Just finished our second stay here, and will not be back for a third. During our first stay, a large wedding party was booked next door to our villa, and the party went all night with loud music. Reception was not available to enforce quiet hours. During our second stay, we entered our villa to discover the gas on the outdoor bbq adjacent to an open door to the kitchen, had been left running for who knows how long, and the kitchen was full of propane gas - enough that a spark or flame probably could have ignited it. The plunge pool pump was not working. The aircon in the bedroom wasn’t working - bad news in late December. The aircon units are so loud that when you wake up at night you think for a moment that you are on board a 747. Smashed cockroaches and dead ants left on bathroom floor. Breakfast system has changed - only small menu items included with breakfast package now - everything else is an extra charge. Staff is generally unfriendly and not helpful, with the exception of the maintenance man who stopped by to fix the plunge pool and aircon. 5 Star resort? I think not. I’ve stayed at 3 Star properties with better service. This place is beautiful - the villas are gorgeous. So much potential if there was a change in ownership/management.
Niramaya Villas and Spa has some interesting information on why Australia is called the land down under?
Australia is known as 'the land Down Under' for its position in the southern hemisphere. The discovery of Australia began when European explorers searched for land under the continent of Asia. Before Australia was discovered, it was known as Terra Australis Incognita the unknown southern land.
