Opened in 1919, the Historic Hydro was originally built as an accommodation house for the executives involved in the construction of the Murrumbidgee Irrigation area. The Historic Hydro has been carefully converted to a modern motel but retaining most of the period furnishing from its glory days. Every time I'm in Leeton I stay here. I love the historical charm of the hotel and the staff are friendly and welcoming. We travel as a group and in winter the central fireplace is a great spot to curl up with a glass of red for a chat with fellow guests and to share a dessert pizza. My favourite rooms are those couple that have the big claw foot bathtubs. If you love a bit of history and old world charm then this is the place for you. Easy walking to the main street of town and plenty of free parking.
A grand old building with heaps of character; history has a presence in every room. Guest rooms were large and clean, maintaining the building's classic charm with a touch of today's modern comforts. The reception was warm and welcoming. Would make a return visit.
