Extremely convenient location since it's next to the train station. The hotel seems newly renovated and my room was spacious, comfortable and well designed. I had a good night's sleep, surprisingly very little noise at night. Overall, a really nice place to stay.
A lovely, elegant, heritage hotel. It is not attached to a pub like many of these hotels; consists of 15 or more boutique apartments and a restaurant downstairs. There is a small room with gym equipment as well as a function room downstairs. No lift inside as the building is heritage listed so ensure you book a room on the bottom floor if you cannot use the stairs. Very pleasant and courteous staff. The room was very spacious and clean, elegant in its style and very relaxing to stay in. The spa in the bathroom was a great extra!
Surrounding environment: Guests need to be aware that the hotel is next to a train station and rail crossing,so you'll get the regular rail crossing sounds plus a rather loud beeping device that accompanies it whenever the boom gates are down. Closing the windows do not help and the crossing operates well into the night (observed up to 1am when I went to bed) as freight trains use this route as well. Bring a pair of earplugs if you are used to sleeping in very quiet environments. Don't bother mentioning this to the staff as you'll get the standard eye rolling expression. Hotel room: is excellent, rooms have very high ceilings and is very airy. Furnishings look new. There were 2 air conditioners in the room so I'd imagine it would be nice in summer where the extra cooling will be useful. Staff: generally friendly but has a tendency to forget they're at a customer facing job. There was this situation where I was asked a question and before I could finish what I was going to say she lifted her palm up facing me in a 'stop' gesture and interrupted me. I feel that this is less than professional and needs to be improved. Parking: There is a parking area behind the hotel and guests are given a code to use for after hours entry. Do note that there is a blue stone drain running across the entrance where it presents a slight dip. No problems when entering the lot as you could do a left turn into the lot and enter diagonally so that the underside of the front bumper would not scrape the ground but it could be a problem when leaving as you have to drive out across the drain. This is something that drivers with cars with lower bodies need to be aware of. SUV drivers have no such problem. Restaurant: there's a restaurant downstairs where you can have a meal. The food is okay and the service is good. In terms of pricing it is on par with other restaurants in the area.
