Good size room big bathroom. The price was up-there for a place with trivial amenities... kinda odd given that those investments are the ones that are cheap and perform consistently... but hey, their counter staff were all VERY good and everything very clean and easy check-in made it a great experience for a frequent traveller. Unfortunately that (to me) means that your experience may vary, but mine was certainly a positive one and my outlook on ibis as a brand is incredibly positive as a result. Highly recommended.
As a Platinum member, I was initially upgraded to a one-bedroom suite. After we complained about the darkness of the one bedroom suite and some other issues, the duty manager upgraded us to a two-bedroom suite at the top floor. The suite is very bright with a good view of the city and sizable for a family. The suite has a kitchen area equipped with a hot plate, a fridge and a microwave. Two bedrooms can accommodate four people, and there is a living room and a balcony upstairs. The hotel is centrally located and only 100 meters from the Queen Victoria Market, the biggest and most famous one in Melbourne. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, though outsourced housekeeping services don't keep the hotel well. There are some issues. The bed is not firm and pillows are too soft. The hot plate is convenient, but is so hot that can easily hurt people. Cookware are hot as well and there were no gloves. The water pressure of the shower is not big. In general, our stay of 11 days was wonderful.
With priority check in and a very nice room, we departed for our evening engagement. Coming back around 10.30 pm, the bed was excellent, the room quiet and the black out curtains certainly did the trick. A great nights sleep followed. Although I am not a fan of stepping over the bath to have a shower - the bathroom was very clean and modern. Down for breakfast at 8 am - first priority -Coffee--- YUK ... the cooked breakfast was nothing spectacular at all, but it filled the void. Speedy checkout followed - overall, we would certainly stay again - but we'd go out for breakfast and coffee.
We found the room very quite and nice and clean. There were 2 small annoyances that I had when I was there but they were very minimal. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and I feel that the cups are very small for tea and coffee and mugs would be more suitable. I went out and brought a cheap mug to use while I was there. There also needed to be some extra washing up liquid. It would be more economical to have it in a container rather than the satchels. When I asked for extra liquid there was no problems and it was brought to me immediately. The staff were all very pleasant and most professional. I would definitely stay there again. The Kitchen Restaurant was very good. Service and the menu were both great.
Price was a little too high for what you get, but it's on par with the rest of Melbourne. Staff was great, restaurant food was good, room was nice, but could use some TLC. There was no shelving other than a soap dish in the shower and the shower head was at my neck level (I'm 6') and leaking. The table lamp at the desk was also broken. Other than those minor complaints, was still pleased if not only because of the great location. P.S. WiFi was fine and free.
