Malanda Falls Rainforest Walk is located within the Malanda Falls Conservation Park on the Atherton Tablelands. Malanda Falls, on the North Johnstone River, tumbles over basalt rock formed by an ancient lava flow that spread from the Mount Hypipamee area 15 kilometres away. Starting on the opposite side of the road to the car park, the 1.5 kilometre Rainforest circuit walk follows the North Johnstone River before turning back through the forest to its starting point. Look for platypus, fish and turtles from the viewing deck over the river, and learn some of the many tree species that make up the forest. Stay on the walking track and boardwalks at all times. Allow one hour walking time to complete this track of an easy grade. ...

Short walk to a beautiful falls. Lots of visitors but a nice scenic day out.

  • Jason Lamb 5

Falls were small and right beside the road. Worth the stop for the visitor center where staff eagerly taught us about the local geology and history. Friendliest and most excited staff I have encountered on my trip so far. A+

  • Mark Archer 4

The visitor centre is great - friendly and helpful staff who are more than keen to teach you about the area, interesting displays and interactive educational features. The swimming hole is a modest sized concreted mass of water with a waterfall at one end, nothing special - but still a great place to take the family to cool down.

  • H. Collins 4

Amazing in heavy rain conditions, area was flooded, but it made it so much cooler than standard falls. We loved seeing it.

Peaceful place to have a picnic, or a quick (cold) swim
