About Busselton Jetty

The Busselton Jetty experience takes you 1.8 kilometres out to sea, on the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere, and the second longest in the world. Stroll or take a train ride over the waters of Geographe Bay to the Underwater Observatory, your window to Australia's best artificial reef. Just two hours 40 minutes south of Perth, Busselton Jetty is a must-see on your journey south. You'll find the entrance on the main swimming beach, a short walk from Busselton's bustling town centre. Built over 150 years ago, the jetty underwent an AUD27 million refurbishment, adding interpretive displays and shelters, fish cleaning bays, swimming platforms and heritage sculptures. At the end of your 1.7 kilometre walk or train ride, the Underwater Observatory invites you to take the eight metre plunge, via the stairs or lift, to the ocean floor. Through eleven viewing windows, you can marvel at forests of vividly coloured sub-tropical corals and sponges, and the sheer diversity of marine life, without zipping on a diving suit. Time your visit to coincide with the Ironman Western Australia Triathlon in summer and witness the spectacle of the world's best ironmen and women tackling the gruelling 3.6 kilometre jetty swim....

At 2km long, the jetty makes for an impressive sight as it pierces the Indian Ocean. The foreshore at Busselton is beautifully done around the jetty. The history as you walk down the jetty is done really well. Fishing from here is great. There is a fee for adult entry during the day, otherwise after 6pm you can get access for free.

Another tourist attraction where local government has piled on fees. $15 pp to ride train. $4 pp to walk on jetty per day. Lots of historical information on the life of the pier and sea life in the area. Visit but walk the pier and chat to locals fishing and tourists. Can be a bit breezy at the end of the pier.

Nice peaceful long walk when you don't have to dodge fishing lines and trains. Worth taking the long walk down to the end, very tranquil. However be aware walk is long and might be tiring for some, but there are benches to rest along the way

We didn't go on the train to the jetty end but enjoyed the display in the ticket office and the interpretive display at the visitor's centre. Loved the recreation of sealife around the pier. Loved the history of Busselton written on the floor. Loved the murals around the jetty on the buildings. Pretty spot.
