QLD Tourism welcomes Beechworth RSL, in Beechworth You'll discover wonderful places to visit in Beechworth.
The Beechworth RSL Sub Branch is a traditional branch that operates on an as required basis apart from two periods in each week where the branch is open on Tuesdays for Administration/Welfare issues and Thursdays when the bar is opened for camaraderie and fellowship. Beechworth RSL is a small but very progressive branch that is privileged to host an exceptional collection of memorabilia that covers the Boer War through to the current conflicts that Australian Servicemen and women are engaged in. The rooms are available for use/hire by community organisations and local authorities by appointment.
Beechworth RSL has interesting facts - Why are Pubs called Hotels in Australia? A pub, short for Public House, is an establishment whose main function is to serve alcohol, mostly beer. Also known as an Ale house or Tavern. The reason for this is that until recently, in Australia (late 1980s), pubs were forced, by the liquor laws, to provide accommodation and so were accurately called hotels.
